Workshop; 18/11/11 - Portraiture

Today was our turn of the Portraiture workshop,

We were given the task of photographing Four different concepts;

• VULNERABILITY
• PRIDE
• INTIMACY
• ALOOF

There was some moving of the model, and moving of reflectors (Polly Boards) to get the right lighting for the chosen concept.

These proved a challenge to do using only facial expressions and body language alone, we had to use our own experiences to give the right expression and body language (when siting for the images)

It gave me more confidence in directing people and what I wanted them to do/show.

After finishing my film, I developed the negative, only to hole punch the wrong end! so my first shot has now got a hole going through it!

So once that was done I made a quick contact sheet exposing it for 5 seconds.

This is one that I took at the end of the shoot (to use up the last spare frames) as it turns out I think that this is one of it not the best image from the shoot. 

It's more of a natural shot, John just did a quick pose and i said hold it there then made my exposure and this is what resulted.

It's like it could be an image from a book of an Author or an Editor of a Magazine.
