Critical Appraisal; The Body

For this I wanted to shoot some homeless people in their locations but we have to bring a willing person back to UCA so that we can shoot them in the studio. The idea is so that we can tell who they are, what they are about just by what they are wearing and their body language, although this is a little about stereotypes as one can easily stereotype or judge someone just by what clothes they wear.

After some more thought, and a few trips to Chatham and back I came up with the idea of making my portrait image on someone who wears sports clothing i.e. a 'Chav' this is because the Medway town is regarded as one of many Chav Towns around the country.

After A workshop (18th Nov '11) I have changed my mind on what I want to do my portrait on, I am going to use a person from within UCA as I want to try and find out about them by their own face, their posture and the clothes that they wear, as if they are their uniform or an way of expressing them self's. I want them to feel at ease and be natural in front of the camera, not an easy task to do if one isn't familiar or to enthused by this.
I after hearing Jonathan Simms talk about other Artists ways of getting their sitters/models to react in the way they wanted them to, has given me a few ideas and some ways that I want to test out before I get to do my shoot for real.

So I have found a suitable person to base my portrait on, a Fashion Promotion Student, by the name of Hus she also lives in my halls and so I set about finding more about her.
I found out that she is Turkish and so had an idea of relating that by using some props, the first one that I had thought of was to use, Turkish Delights.
