Clarence Sinclair Bull chose this actress as he once said
"she doesn't have a bad line or angle" and so took many photographs and used her in many of his works.

The image is of a very intimate nature, very close to the subject close enough to invade on his personal space.
The Man in the picture, Alberto Giacometti isn't happy about the intrusion on his space this is portrayed by his eyes, the way he stares with a partial angry look.
Close up, intrudes on the persons privacy,
can see all the detail in his face, wrinkles, lines etc
Figure 4 |
I have chosen this particular artist and image as it has a lot of relevance to my current project 'The Body' as in the brief it states that we need to use either someone from the Medway Towns or someone within UCA, which ever we choose to do must be unknown to us therefore we have to carefully go about asking them to sit for us and how we shoot them.
Unknown Person also un named which is part of the portrait part

Hi, I think you need to develop/explain the concept for your portrait. The images you have looked at are interesting but you need to interrogate them. What do they suggest about the subject? what is the visual strategy and how does this re enforce the perception of the viewer? How does the 'context' (place) impact on our understanding? What genre, period style do they belong to - how has this reference been employed in the image? I hope this helps - M
